About Us

Since its inception in 1980, we are still proudly family-owned and operated, continuing Dato Lim Foo Yong’s legacy of serving good Chinese food in an ambiance of casual fine dining. Initially, our menu emphasized mainly traditional Cantonese cuisine, offering the ultimate delicacies like Abalone, Sea Cucumber, Shark’s Fin and Fish Maw. Methods of preparation were based on traditional styles featuring dishes made popular in Hong Kong, the gold standard of Cantonese Cuisine at the time.

As time went by, we started to introduce some local flavors, eg. chilli, belacan and also dishes from other Chinese provinces, eg. Mapo tofu and Peking Duck. In more recent years, our menu has also incorporated some fusion dishes as Chinese food trends have evolved. Through it all, our goal and priorities have not wavered-to offer fine Chinese cuisine at reasonable prices and good service.

馬來西亞著名中餐廳,提供傳統粤菜,點心,海鲜等等!自取1980年開業至今,我們仍然由家族經營而且能延續拿督林芙蓉一手打造出舒適環境下享用高質中菜而感到自豪.最初菜式主打粤菜,上剩食材如:鮑、参、翅、肚及燕窩等,以港式精緻菜餚及烹飪技術呈献。隨着時代轉移,融合一些本土風味例如:金香,馬來棧以及中國各省名菜如:麻婆豆腐,和北京鴨等,直至近年再加入中西融合元素菜式,雖則經歷年代轉變,但以合理價格,精緻佳餚加上良好服務是我們一直緊守的宗旨。

Our Story

  • 1980LION DANCE

    Marco Polo has always had a Lion Dance held at lunch time to celebrate the Chinese New Year, hosted by Dato & Datin Lim Foo Yong. This tradition has been upheld and observed annually, in loving memory of them.

    富臨門每年都會特備午市醒獅節目以慶祝農曆新年,由拿督林芙蓉主持,為紀念他們,這習俗至今仍然保留。

  • 1980BEAUTIFUL IN RED

    Waitresses in elegant red qipao(cheongsam), gliding gracefully across the room was a sight to behold that became the talk of the town.

    穿上紅色長旗袍的女侍應婀娜多姿在餐廳内游走為賓客服務,不失為一個賞心悦目景像。

  • 1980DATO LIM FOO YONG’S BIRTHDAY DINNER

    Dato Lim Foo Yong hosted his birthday celebration every year, inviting VIPs who read like a list off the Who’s Who in the Kuala Lumpur business world at the time.

    拿督林芙蓉每年都舉辦生辰宴席,座上嘉賓都來自吉隆坡商界名人。晚宴菜式是以鮑翅、乳猪、鮑魚及筍壳魚為首。

  • 1997RENOVATION BY OL LIM

    A momentous renovation that gave Marco Polo its facelift, especially historic because the designer was architect William O.L Lim, Dato’s youngest son. William Lim works out of Hong Kong and has since won multiple International awards and recognition for his accomplishments, continuously bringing the family glowing pride.

    1997年由OL LIM為富臨門作出大翻新工程,别具意義,因為設計是來自建築師William O.L.Lim, 拿督的小兒子。William Lim 在香港就業,曾獲得多個國際獎項,成就卓越,為家族帶來自豪。

  • 2007GOLD FROM CHINA

    Executive Chef Soo Kok Lam scores a Gold medal for his 10-flavors Pork Rib and Dim Sum. Chef Choo Yet Seng gets a Gold medal for his spiky Durian dessert with lotus paste.

    行政總廚蘇過霖與點心廚師朱益華憑着十味肋骨及榴櫣酥同時獲得金獎。

  • 2012GOLD FOR CHEF VOON KHAI SIANG

    In his first competition, he brings home Gold for Crabs spilling from a Basket.

    這是他第一次参賽,雖然菜式名為 ’倒瀉籮蟹',卻為他從蟹中拾回一枚金牌

  • 2014RENOVATION

    The next major renovation was in 2014, giving Marco Polo a more contemporary, stylized fusion ambiance.

    近年再次翻新工程落於2014年,為富臨門注入了時尚、新派的合成氛圍。

  • 2018CONSULTANT CHEF ROY

    Celebrity Chef/Author Chef Roy Wong comes on board as consultant and curator of our new menu. He has brought back many of the traditional Cantonese dishes as well as our Classic Marco Polo Signature dishes.

  • 2022POST COVID 19

    We have come through truly challenging times since March 2020 as Covid 19 devastated the world. New protocols (photo shows high temperature steam disinfecting in progress), and policies were adopted. We persevered with tenacious optimism. Our staff deserve special recognition for they offered their unwavering support and stood with us through it all…our true heroes. Let us hope that we never have to live through this again. We thank all our supportive customers who stayed with us through these trying times. Marco Polo wishes everyone Good Health!
